I was curious when I saw this “Windows Speech Recognition” on our laptop, so I tested it and here’s the result…
Actually, I don’t know if some of the commands I mentioned were right. But there are a few basic commands that I have tried in the tutorial that worked, like the very common commands ‘Start Listening’ to make the computer listen to you, ‘Stop Listening’ to make the computer stop listening. During the tutorial, it took me a while for this Speech Recognition application to undertand the words that I am saying. And when I tried it on a Microsoft Office Word but it cannot recognize most of the words and commands that I am saying. So, this Speech Recognition is a Failure! It is a very nice application actually, but it would be great if it can understand the words we are saying. I am a blogger and I have a few blogs that I maintained, so I think this could be a great tool for us to make our blogging life easier. And this is also great for those who are fond of talking and prefer to speak than type or write. By the way, I am using the Windows Speech Recognition in Windows Vista, I think there is also in Windows XP but I haven’t tried it.
